Connect @ imm cologne – a source of cross-sectoral stimulation for the design of new living environments

A major process of transformation is currently underway in the interior design industry. The impact of the coronavirus pandemic over the past year has emphatically demonstrated how quickly the conditions affecting success in the market are changing. The future is digital and connected and holds enormous potential: in 2020, online furniture sales almost doubled. New, digital business models, smart services and connected products are also on the rise. At the same time, however, there is a growing longing for what we have lost in the last year and a half – contact, real interactions and hands-on experiences. In future, it will be those who best understand how to combine both worlds in a meaningful way who will be successful. 

The new Connect interior world gives the new home and living solutions for the future a large, high-profile stage. “As an interactive trade fair format, Connect is itself a novelty. As part of the Interior Business Event imm cologne, the cross-sectoral event will address the digital transformation in the furniture and interior design industry in depth for the first time and explore the new consumer needs associated with these developments,” explains Bernd Sanden, Director of the Connect interior world. Designed as a hybrid analogue/digital event, Connect will bring together innovative exhibitors with partners from cross-industry sectors in collaborative showcases, interactive workshops and exciting digital content formats. By using this approach, the concept will put discussion, cross-sectoral networking and the unlocking of new business opportunities in the foreground. 

Connect – a lively combination of trade fair, conference and innovation lab

Attractive showcases, guided tours and inspiring stimulation from high-quality digital content production and discussion panels – the new Connect interior world will offer exhibitors a high level of exposure and a whole host of opportunities to present brands and products in a creative and innovative environment. 

The Smart Village – design-oriented living environments focused on smart Living and the IoT

The popular Smart Village special event, which has been run successfully for five years, will be one part of the Connect interior world. It shows how a logical symbiosis of architecture, interiors and digital technology can satisfy the most demanding lifestyle needs. The Smart Village brings together products and services from various sectors, manufacturers and skilled trades, and presents them in holistic, user-oriented living environments. This way, the exhibition concept will give visitors the opportunity to engage constructively with technological innovation as it relates to their own everyday reality, represented in contemporary living scenarios. 

The Connect Hub – workshops, effective content and directly applicable practical know-how

The Connect Hub conferencing format will bring together visitors, exhibitors, products, services and future-oriented themes in innovative workshops, stimulating presentations and digital content formats. The Hub will give visitors and exhibitors the opportunity to enter into an in-depth exchange of ideas in the midst of the hustle and bustle of the trade fair. At the same time, it will also offer the ideal setting in which to clearly communicate the potential of digital products and business models so they can be readily understood. By focusing on specific themes, the Connect Hub will attract new and exciting visitor groups to the exhibition space, such as architects, project managers and innovators working in the fields of energy, mobility, telecommunications, healthcare or logistics. The content of the event programme and the individual sessions will be developed by the Connect team in close coordination with the exhibitors, with the events organised by theme and spread across all days of the trade fair.

With themes relating to smart living, digital business models and new technologies, Connect will offer exciting content for innovative, digital-savvy target groups.  The dynamic event programme and the attractive special showcase formats will provide the ideal setting for the production of authentic and professional digital media formats.
